Description

Tillandsia oerstediana seeds grow into an epiphytic bromeliad native to the wet tropical biome of Central America from Mexico (Chiapas, Oaxaca) south through Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Named after Anders Sande rsted (18161872), the Danish botanist who conducted important botanical expeditions in Central America and Mexico in the 1840s-1850s, making major contributions to the knowledge of Central American flora. A member of subfamily Tillandsioideae with vivid, colourful flower bracts and an attractive epiphytic rosette. Family Bromeliaceae.
