Gardener’s Notes: Sweet peas love cool weather and need to grow before summer’s heat. Plant in rich soil in early spring. To speed germination, soak seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours. Seeds can be started indoors 4-6 weeks before planting outside, or sow outdoors as soon as soil can be worked. In warm climates, plant in fall for late winter or early spying bloom. Remove faded flowers to prolong bloom.
