Description

Having the title of the oldest parsnip in cultivation, ‘Hollow Crown’ is named for the depression at the top of the crown where the foliage emerges. Soak seed to improve germination. Parsnip is a long-growing crop needing around 100 days to harvest, but well worth the time and space as the flavour when harvested fresh from the garden elevates when roasted or mashed.

Parsnip Hollow Crown has large tapering roots and is creamy, tender, and sweet-flavoured. A popular roasted vegetable, or add to winter soups and stews.

Cultivate soil well before sowing as deep, well-drained soils give the best results. Great companion plant for beans, onions, corn, cucumber, radish and tomatoes.
