Description
1. Soil Preparation:
Choose well-drained, loamy soil with a neutral pH (6.0 to 7.0). Enrich with organic compost before planting for strong root development.
2. Germination:
Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours. Cold-stratify by storing in a moist paper towel in the fridge for 3060 days. Sow inch deep in seed trays and keep in a warm, sunny spot.
3. Transplanting:
Once seedlings are 68 inches tall, transplant outdoors in full sun. Space trees 1525 feet apart for healthy growth.
4. Watering & Care:
Water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first 2 years. Mulch around the base to retain moisture. Prune in late winter to maintain shape and encourage fruiting.
5. Fruiting Time:
Typically fruits in 23 years when grown from seed. Fruits are deep purple to black, sweet, and juicy excellent for fresh eating, jams, or baking.
