What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Beans have a distinct dislike for cold, wet soils, so sow seeds only after the soil has warmed to at least 16C.

Planting:Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep and 8 cm apart in rows spaced 45 to 70 cm apart.For a continuous harvest, make successive sowings every 10 days until mid-July.

Care:Keep the soil evenly watered, particularly when the plants are in flower and starting to produce pods.Avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizer, which can promote excessive foliage.To reduce the risk of disease, avoid disturbing the plants when leaves are damp.Germination occurs in approximately 8 days.
