Description
1. Soil Preparation:
Choose well-drained, loamy soil with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. Add compost or organic matter before planting.
2. Sowing Seeds:
Start seeds indoors 810 weeks before the last frost date. Sow inch deep in seed trays and keep moist. Transplant when seedlings are 1012 weeks old and 610 inches tall.
3. Transplanting:
Plant outdoors in early spring, spacing crowns 1218 inches apart in rows 3 feet apart. Ensure good drainage and full sun exposure.
4. Watering & Maintenance:
Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Mulch around plants to retain moisture and prevent weeds.
5. Harvesting:
Do not harvest in the first year. Begin light harvests in the second year and full harvests from the third year onwards. Harvest spears when they are 68 inches tall.
