Planting and Care:
Cucumbers grow best in rich, warm, sandy loam. Incorporate compost or well-aged manure 30 cm deep before planting. Wait until soil warms to at least 18 C. Build 1520 cm high mounds, 3060 cm in diameter, spaced 120 cm apart. Sow 68 seeds per mound at 2 cm depth. After germination (710 days), thin to 34 plants per mound. In limited spaces, grow on a trellis. Keep soil evenly moist to avoid bitterness, particularly in hot, dry weather. Harvest with a sharp knife to preserve the vine.
