Description
Bring a little royal flair to your flower beds with Tagetes patula Queen Sophie, a compact French marigold that lights up the garden with deep orange-red blooms edged in gleaming gold. The fully double, ruffled flowers sit neatly above tidy, bushy plants about 1012″ tall, creating a low, colorful border that looks just as at home in a vegetable patch as it does in a front-yard flower bed or patio container. Blooming steadily from early summer right up to frost, Queen Sophie is an easy-care choice for nonstop color all season long.
The warm, sunset tones of Queen Sophie make an effortless backdrop for herbs, greens, and late-season crops. Plant a drift along walkways or tuck a few starts into containers for cheerful bouquets within arms reach. The fragrant, finely cut foliage and nectar-rich flowers help attract pollinators and beneficial insects like hoverflies, while the strong marigold scent can help confuse and deter certain garden pests. Its a lovely way to add beauty and a bit of natural pest support to an organic garden.
In the kitchen, the petals can be used as an edible garnish, lending a floral, slightly citrusy note to salads, desserts, and rice dishes. Fresh or dried, they can even be used as a natural dye to add golden color to homemade projects. Whether youre planting a cutting garden, edging a veggie bed, or filling a few window boxes, Queen Sophie offers a generous blend of charm, resilience, and practical garden value.
Did You Know? Queen Sophie is an award-winning French marigold variety that has been treasured for decades for its dependable performance, long bloom season, and richly colored, bi-colored petals that seem to glow in evening light.
